We help around 1,500 people each year to start their studies, equipping them with the skills and qualifications to build brighter futures.

Who Can Apply
Any sentenced prisoner aged 18 years and over from prisons in England, Wales, Channel Islands and Isle of Man, including Young Offenders’ Institutions. Applicants need to have gained level 2 English (literacy). Some courses also require level 2 Maths (numeracy).

Applicants should be able to complete their chosen course before release, and so need to have a minimum of 6 months left on their sentence when applying.
What Can Be Funded

We offer over 120 different distance learning courses, from business start-up to GCSEs and A-levels, health and safety and Open University Access modules.

What Can Not Be Funded

Art and hobby materials, postgraduate courses.

How To Apply

Applications to PET must be made through the prison education department on PET’s application form and must be signed by an authorised member of the prison education/learning and skills department.
