Pact is a pioneering national charity that supports prisoners, people with convictions, and their children and families. We provide caring and life changing services at every stage of the criminal justice process: in court, in prison, on release, and in the community.

What we do:

  • Build stronger families and safer communities.
  • Reduce risk of harm to prisoners and their children.
  • Remove barriers and increase awareness in public services.
  • Influence commissioning, policy and legislation.

Pact provides a range of services, including:

  • prison-based Family Engagement Workers
  • family prison visitors’ centres
  • in-prison family support, supervised play, catering and enhanced family activities
  • prison- and community-based relationship and parenting education programmes
  • prison-based social workers in two women's prisons
  • court- and community-based family support
  • ‘Through the Gate’ and community-based mentoring and resettlement programmes
  • tailored wellbeing, education, training and employment support for people on probation

Pact also runs the National Prisoners’ Families Helpline under contract to Her Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS) and provides information and support for anyone affected by imprisonment across England and Wales.

I wanted to take the time and thank you all so very much for all the amazing support and advice you provided for me and my children, during the most difficult and challenging time in my life. You were there for me at my lowest point and I can’t thank you enough, no words can describe how grateful I am."
