The Prince's Trust
You may be eligible if you are a UK resident and are aged 16–30 studying less than 14 hours a week, or not in compulsory education; unemployed or working less than 16 hours a week. You must have a financial barrier in being able to access work, training, education or a structured voluntary role.
Prince’s Trust Development Awards offer smaill cash awards to young people who have financial barriers - we can help with funding upto £500 (regional funding restrictions may apply) with things such as: tools or equipment for a job or qualification e.g. hairdressing kit; carpentry tools; PPE; chef whites; course fees; interview clothes; licence fees, e.g. CSCS card (construction); short term childcare costs; transport costs to a new job/interview until first pay cheque. Qualifications must be accredited to qualify for the funding. Please note that there may be variations depending on region.
Living expenses, e.g. rent or bills; costs for things that have already been paid for; gap year or overseas projects; community projects; medical treatment; fees for courses higher than level 3, e.g. NVQ level 4, HNC, HND, degree or postgraduate courses; and anything related to self-employment/business start-up costs.
If you meet our criteria, all you need to do is get in touch through our website (options are to call freephone number, live chat, complete an online form) and tell us a bit about yourself and how the award would be used. If you are eligible, you’ll be invited to discuss making an application before a final decision is made.
Someone from The Prince’s Trust will be in touch within 5 working days of an enquiry being made.
The award is to help young people get their lives back on track and is most relevant to prisoners pre-release and those in the community as well as young people from our target critieria. A Prince’s Trust staff member can also support you in setting goals, making decisions and finding other support. In processing a funding application ID will need to be seen & we would require evidence to support an application but this can be discussed after an enquiry has been made.
