Who Can Apply

Probation Service, registered charities, Citizens Advice, healthcare professionals, housing associations, local councils can apply on behalf of the person in need. The person (who may be an ex-offender) must live in the North East of England and be in extreme social need.

What Can Be Funded

Grants of between £50–£150 given for essential items; washing machines, cookers, fridge freezers, flooring, baby equipment, beds and bedding, clothing and supermarket vouchers. If white goods are awarded we work directly with an organisation who would delivery a new item to your property. Installation costs are not included.

What Can Not Be Funded

Payment of debts, rent bonds, computer equipment.

How To Apply

Applications can only be made on behalf of a client by a registered charity or social services, probation service, Citizens Advice , healthcare professionals, housing provider, local council. The application form must be completed on our website. If you have a probation officer, you can ask your PO if you can have an individual grant from the block grant Greggs Foundation makes twice a year to Probation.

Key Dates
Applications are assessed weekly and you can expect a response within 2 weeks of your application.
Acknowledgement

The Greggs Foundation responds to all applications, successful or not. However, if you haven’t had a decision within 3 weeks of your application, get in touch with Greggs Foundation to check its progress.

Notes

We are hugely over-subscribed at present and have sufficient funds to award around half the requests we receive. We have identified three priorities to ensure our grants make the greatest difference. We are far more likely to support an application if it meets the priority criteria listed below. We prioritise (i) families with young children over individuals, (ii) the most financially excluded people, (iii) items that will make the most difference.

We awarded the Probation Service/CRC in both Northumberland and Durham/Tees a block grant to distribute on our behalf. Probation officers should apply for funding directly to this source.
