How the scheme can assist you

The Wise Group offer various support schemes across the North East and North West that help prison leavers and those on probation to better re-integrate and find a better life and purpose.

Liberate:  a personal wellbeing service to men on probation in County Durham and the Tees Valley. Includes men being released from HMPs Durham, Deerbolt, Kirklevington Grange, Holme House and Frankland. Our mentors provide crisis intervention, support, coaching and advocacy. Support includes relationships, emotional and mental wellbeing, socail activities and access to services.

Footsteps: supporting women on probation and in custody in County Durham, including women in HMP Low Newton. Our support includes, coaching and advocacy around accommodation, finding work, benefits and finances, relationships, social activities and accessing support services.

Finance ,Benefits and Debt: support for men in custody and on probation across Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, County Durham, Tees Valley, Cheshire, Merseyside, Lancashire and Cumbria. This includes HMPs Northumberland, Durham, Deerbolt, Kirklevington Grange, Holme House, Frankland, Thorn Cross, Altcourse, Liverpool, Haverigg, Lancaster Farms, Kirkham, Garth, Wymott and Preston. We provide crisis intervention, coaching and advocacy around benefits advice, debt management, managing your money and accessing Universal Credit.

How To Apply
Referrals are generally made to the services via the probation teams that individuals are engaging with. In the case of those in custody, our teams will identify suitable referrals in conjunction with prison staff and probation teams as part of pre-release planning. People in custody can also request a self referral via prison staff.
