Introduction
Acknowledgements

Every year the production and distribution of The Hardman Directory, formerly known as The Prisoner Funder Directory, is made possible as a result of the generous efforts of so many people. I would like to thank the following.

The Trustees at The Bromley Trust for backing and supporting the Directory project from the beginning and for continuing to support the project every year for 15 years; the other donor organisations who agreed to provide the necessary funding for this edition; Public Sector Prison Industries for covering the majority of the printing costs; the Trustees of The Hardman Trust for their encouragement and support.

All the contributors who checked and updated their pages, in particular, Phil at HMPPS for once again offering the foreword to this edition; Andrew, a recruitment consultant, for his piece on approaching employers; Andy and his colleagues at Rift for enabling us to improve the content of Getting into Employment, Hugh for his article Watch the cash; Andy and his colleagues, Matthew and Mick at St Giles Trust for reviewing the Finding a place to live section, Suzan at PET for her work researching and then checking the section on education funding in England and Wales and Drew at SPS for his input in the Planning your education and training section; Carol, at Citizens Advice, for providing us with Citizens Advice material on benefit changes; Simon and various teams at HMPPS, Liz at SPS and Steven at NIPS for checking the Prison Service administered support sections.

Ashley of Open Sauce Software and Paul of Foundation Multimedia who have provided great IT support; Andrew of Andrew Aitchison Photography, who has again provided such excellent photos; David and Sarah at Wolf Design for such high quality sub-editing, design and artwork; Bruce for proofreading the text; Ian at the Ministry of Justice and John and the prisoners who work in the printshop at HMP Coldingley who all worked to make this an vibrant, high quality publication; John and David at Inside Time who have allowed us to have a copy of the printed Directory delivered with every bundle of the newspaper ‘insidetime’ to all the prisons in the UK, free of charge. Steve and his team in Middlesborough who as another act of good will, organised the delivery.

Three local Hardman volunteers, Rachel, Kirsty and John who have provided a considerable amount of valuable input.

Each of the prisoners and staff members, who will know who they are, who took the trouble to participate in the Directory survey or to write in with their very helpful comments and feedback. In particular Christopher, a prisoner, who says how important each new edition of the Directory has been to him.
His letter encourages all of us who play a part in producing The Hardman Directory.
