Anyone with a criminal pecord, or a family member/friend of someone currently in a North East prison or who is returning to the North East on release.
We help people with writing their CVs, finding work, and accessing training. We also explain how best to talk about criminal records with potential employers. We run a bakery in HMP Northumberland, where we train people in catering and bakery qualifications. We also run a café in Newcastle Cathedral that employs people with a criminal record and we employ prison leavers in a team doing gardening, landscaping and small building work in Northumberland.

If it wasn’t for the Oswin Project, I think I would have ended up going back to prison. When I came out, I had to live in a hostel. There was all sorts of bad things going on there. Having work in Café 16 and being around good people, it keeps you on track and keeps you away from things like that. It makes all the difference.”
